Cold Canadians Winters can have a profound effect on the condition of our skin and can aggravate pre-existing skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis. Sub-zero temperatures, wind, dry air and indoor heating can lead to what is know as the winter itch. The "winter itch" is very dry skin occurring most commonly on the legs, arms, hands and torso. The skin looks and feels tight, rough, dull, flaky and can accentuate the finest lines. In some cases, the skin may chap and even crack especially in over-exposed areas such as the hands and lips. As the term eludes, the winter itch causes the skin to feel itchy leaving us desperately scratching for relief. Did you know that under normal conditions, the surface of the skin has a water content between 10% and 30%. Sebum, our skins natural oil , helps to minimize water loss and acts as a natural protective barrier against harsh environmental  conditions. When the humidity dips below 60%, which is often the case in heated indoor atmosphere, our skin loses more moisture than what it can replace. Signs of dry skin appear when the water contest of our outer surface of the skin falls below 10%. The wind and outside cold dry air further dries out our skin. Long hot showers and detergents can also exuberate our dry skin by stripping our protective natural skin oil causing our skin to be able to retain less moisture. What can we do?? There are two strategies to maintain healthy skin during the winter. First we can help our skin to minimize moisture loss, and secondly we can help keep it moist.

Green Beaver Winter Body Lotion is a highly moisturizing botanical emollients that sink deep into the skin leaving it silky soft and comfortable. Soothing colloidal oatmeal instantly relieves itchy feeling skin. Which makes it suitable for eczema and psoriasis proned skin. I love using this after a shower or bath , it goes on very well and very dry, leaving your skin feeling great and not oily.  This is wonderful for the whole body!!! I also admire the light fragrance of the lotion, its very subtle and not over bearing on your nose.

Green Beaver Apres-Ski Face Cream is wonderful product to use.  Its light and creamy, and the extra rich shea and cocoa butter make this so good for your face. Non- greasy and quick absorbing I really like this as it is very light to use and doesn't leave any heavy feeling. It is also naturally suitable for sensitive skin. This is a wonderful face cream to use, and a little goes a long way and it smells good to.

Green Beaver Apres-Ski Lip Balm is a wonderful balm to have in your purse or van console as mine sits, it is soft and long lasting. It is enriched with skin-healing aloe and vitamin E. It is a balm that when your out and your lips are dry as the Sahara desert from grocery shopping your lips will thank you for it.  Unflavored you wont want to lick your dry lips again!{lol}

The New!! Green Beaver Apres-Ski Cheek Balm is probably my favorite for the kids for sure. It comes in a handy carry able container that you can loop a string through if your taking it out and about. It is quick soothing for those cheeks in the winter time that seem to take the brunt of the cold winter. I know I see also of red cheeks but I have been using the cheek balm on my guys and its non greasy and quick to use they barely notice you making them stop and apply it as they head out the door. I remember as a kid my cheeks getting sore from the cold winds so to have a cheek balm available now is brilliant and a great idea as three of my children walk to school and winter has only just begun.
