 For Review, I was sent a Wonderful set of products from the Sea of Buckthorn line.  Sea of Buckthorn Hand and Body Lotion, Facial Moisturizer, Cleansing Toner, Healthy Hair Serum, and Sea of Buckthorn Oil Serum.   I like that all products come in Glass containers, they can be easily recycled and reused.

 Sea Buckthorn Cleansing Toner; This cleansing Toner is very multi purpose. It can be used as a makeup remover, cleanser, toner, and skin protector. I love this and this Toner leaves my face so soft and clean.  Wonderful and mild this is a great toner. 
Sea Buckthorn, Frankinsence, Immortelle and Neroli work synergistically to refresh and soften the skin, reduce the appearance of pores, and provide a low-pH barrier to protect the skin's natural Acid Mantle and prepare skin for moisturizers and makeup.

 Sea Buckthorn Hand and Body Lotion;  This is suitable for all skin types and is very 

Uplifting and relaxing. This lightly scented moisturizer combines Sea Buckthorn with Chamomile, Marshmallow Root, Comfrey Root, Lavender and Seaweed to promote healing and soothing of dry skin. This protective and hydrating lotion is ideal for use on the hands and body year-round.  I love this lotion and it smells amazing. Light and fresh you can use this morning or night!!

 Sea of Buckthorn Facial Moisturizer;  A medium moisturizing cream formulated with Sea Buckthorn seed and fruit oils and specially selected herbs and natural extracts to renew and protect the skin.  Again this is a light lotion that really absorbs well and leaves a nice fresh feeling to my face.

Sea of Buckthorn Hair Serum; An herb-infused hair serum made with Sea Buckthorn seed and fruit oils to promote the growth of full-bodied, healthy-looking hair.

The latin name for Sea Buckthorn translates as “Shiny Horse” because of the incredible sheen the plant gave to the coats of the horse that grazed upon it.  This Sea Buckthorn hair serum provides a multitude of benefits for both hair and scalp.  When applied to the scalp, it soothes the skin and encourages healthy hair growth. On the hair, it conditions and protects, leaving hair silky and strong.  Ideal for use with heat styling tools, the serum also detangles, shines and smoothes even the most damaged hair. The serum can be used on damp or dry hair.  All I do is add a few drops to my hands and massage into my hair and it is left feeling soft and shiny. Not greasy or too oily, this is really a wonderful product to use. My daughter likes to straighten her hair a lot so I like her using this as added protection when she is styling her hair. 

 Sea Buckthorn Oil Serum.  This is a very nice serum to use,  I have been using it only for a few weeks but I like how soft my face feels after using it.  The new serum, a soothing oil blend of Mont Echo's own Sea Buckthorn Seed and Fruit oils and organic Rosehip Seed oil, is full of omega fatty acids, anti-inflammatories, antioxidants and vitamin C to soothe and nourish irritated and dry skin, alleviate certain skin conditions, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and imperfections in mature skin.

 About Sea Buckthorn

Best known for its vibrant orange berries and needle-like thorns, Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) is one of nature’s most powerful plants.  Sea Buckthorn  is a deciduous shrub or small tree reaching 0.5 – 6 meters in height. It is a wind-pollinated, dioecious species (meaning there are both male plants and female plants) with narrow silver-gray leaves, long, sharp thorns and abundant orange berries.

Sea Buckthorn is already well known in many parts of the world, where it has been used for centuries to improve overall health and treat a variety of ailments, particularly skin and digestive diseases. The remarkable therapeutic benefits and healing powers of its fruit, bark, seeds and leaves were first noted by several ancient Greek scholars and were later described in classic Tibetan medicinal texts dating from the Tang Dynasty. And today, in the 21st century, scientists and practitioners are utilizing Sea Buckthorn in modern medicine. According to legend, Sea Buckthorn leaves were the preferred food of the mythical winged horse, Pegasus.
In the 13th century, Genghis Khan credited Sea Buckthorn with giving his armies incredible strength and endurance.
Sea Buckthorn oil was given to Russian cosmonauts as a vitamin supplement and as protection against radiation in space.
Sea Buckthorn was originally brought to Canada as a shelter-belt plant to provide wind shelter and prevent soil erosion. An actinorhizal plant, it has the capacity to fix atmospheric nitrogen and thus enrich the soil.

This August, Mont Echo will be celebrating their first Sea Buckthorn Harvest Festival! The Festival will take place over the week of August 21 – 29 2010 and will feature a number of special events and activities in both Sutton, the home of several of our Sea Buckthorn supplier farms, and nearby Knowlton (Lac Brome), where Mont Echo’s flagship Boutique, Sea Buckthorn Interpretive Centre, and offices are located.
