five ACCESSORIES, an online store that grew out of its founders' desire to import handmade handbags and accessories from a Bali mountain village, now carries handmade purses and jewelry from global areas such as Bali, Honduras, Cambodia and India. The company recently started two income generating programs in Chicago under the new line called Off The Street. five ACCESSORIES supports grassroots efforts around the globe to aid under-privileged children by donating five DOLLARS of every handbag sold and 15 percent of all other sales to each artisan's local cause
The company began while Christine Hutchison and her husband, Wells, were on their honeymoon in Bali. While there, they met a Balinese tour guide who told them how much difference five dollars a month can make to a family in Bali. While admiring the beautiful handbags and jewelry made by local artisans, the couple had the idea to start five, a company that embodies both their entrepreneurial and philanthropic zeal. The mission of the company is to create income generating programs for individuals in need, donate a large portion of it's sales to worthy charitable causes and foster the use of sustainable material in fashion.
The five ACCESSORIES collection features handbags and accessories handmade with materials ranging from bamboo to coconut shells to recycled materials and more, which are specific to the global regions in which they are created. "We want to enhance the modern woman's look by offering products that are carefully selected for their fun designs, natural materials, quality craftsmanship, and affordable prices," says founder, Christine Hutchison. Mission:Generate income for individuals in developing areas, donate a large portion of sales back to worthy causes and promote the use of sustainable materials in fashion.

Fair Trade Project of the Women of Handuras
Also being added to the five ACCESSORIES line are Recycled Potato Chip Bags, created as a solution to the growing ecological damage in Honduras from the burning of trash. These handbags are crafted from potato chip bags and have changed the lives of this community's residents by contributing to a healthy and clean community. The handbags come in three sizes: small, medium and large, and the elaborate process results in either a metallic silver or colorful design that is unique to the womens craft. Prices range from $25-$35
Recycled Handbags from Cambodia
Made from recycled mosquito netting in Cambodia, the messenger bags are both socially conscious and environmentally friendly, yet styled to appeal to today's modern customer. Bag dimensions, 15.5" x 15" x 4.5", $75.
Block Stamped and Hand Embroidered Hand Bags from India
Unique to an old tradition of dying fabric, the totes and over the shoulder bags from our India Collection are handmade by a fair trade co-operative by Mumbai. Many of the cloth bags have reversible linings and inside pockets. Prices range from $20 for our yoga bag to $45.
